Wymott Ponds Area

Post by 1swallow » Thu Mar 26, 2020 11:48 am

Early morning visit. 46 bird species recorded in just under 3 hours. Also Buff-tailed Bumblebee and Peacock Butterfly feeding on the flowering willow trees.

Early morning 2 Blackcaps were singing at 6.30 a.m, didn’t hear them when I returned at the end of my walk. Lots of Chiffchaffs singing in the woodlands this morning, 11 singing in total.

By the stubble field across the railway line just 1 Yellowhammer, singing bird and 4 Reed Buntings in this area.

2 Goldcrests located in the woodlands but no Treecreeper or Nuthatches around.

The small pool by the edge of the road by the old landfill site contained several Teal and I also saw the Little Grebe. Normally when I find one here I only ever hear the species, usually too much vegetation in the way to view the pool. I heard Raven this morning at the back of the woodland but couldn’t latch on to it.
