Big Lodge Yarrow Valley Park.

Post by duxbury rambler »

Took these photos on the 5 Oct
A small diving bird (smaller than a moorhen) was in the iris at the side of the lodge and I disturbed it, it dived and surfaced moving away from me, went back later with DSLR but no sign of it. I thought at first it was a young grebe.

It was among the Iris again this morning 8 Oct it eluded me again.

i saw it on sunday but without binoculars, & i think it is a little grebe,
however if anyone gets chance it is worth having a look, as with the winds we have had it could be another type of grebe blown off course, having a rest.

It could well be a juvenile Little Grebe from Astley Park.
