Ladybirds

Post by Paul Whittaker »

It’s a pleasant afternoon to be in the garden here in Croston and I have just estimated that there are currently over 1000 Ladybirds on my house wall which is in the afternoon sun - different sizes, colours and numbers of spots. Looking across the garden toward the nearby woodland the air if full of them, literally thousands. Glad I’m not a greenfly!

They seem to be widespread. Swarms reported from Astley Village, 30 on a garage at Hoghton and 200+ on a house in Warton Place, Chorley.

We had over 50 100 in our house on Tuesday, they seem to favour upstairs rooms facing south-west
