Tonight - 2 Pipistrelle Bats, Common Whitethroat back on edge former quarry behind my house.

Cuckoo feeding on former quarry at tea time, however 2 Magpies harrassing it. Grasshopper Warbler singing until 11.30 on 5th. May.

Lots of Green Veined White and Orange Tipped White Butterflies about.

Male Great Spotted Woodpecker in garden foraging for fat balls -first time since about March

Numerous orange tip -counted at least 10; peacock; speckled wood- on reclaimed quarry.

No skylark on what was once a breeding site -though thought a heard one singing from a adjacent road yesterday, so needs further observation.

Scores -probably hundreds -of six spot burnet moth on red clover, common vetch and marsh thistle.
Two swift and one swallow; one meadow pipit

All on "reclaimed" quarry

Definitely one pair of Skylark remain. I have seen/heard the male sing on a number of occasions in the early morning.
