Anglezarke

Post by Paul Hodson »

A glorious day for a hike over the moors today, though pretty quiet birdwise. The highlight was the Cotton grass covering most of Anglezarke and Withnell Moors. There seems to be much more than usual this year and it looks very impressive.

Birds seen were, Dipper and Grey Wagtail 2 on Dean Black Brook. Stonechat, Curlew 2. several Skylark and Meadow Pipit on Anglezarke Moor.
Pair of Redstart at Lead Mine Clough
High Bullough Reservoir... 3 male Tufted Duck and a Buzzard overhead.
Anglezarke Reservoir.. Oystercatcher. Great Crested Grebe 2, no sign of any chicks.

Butterflies. 2 Small Heath on Anglezarke Moor. Red Admiral and several Speckled Wood at LMC
At least 20 Northern Eggar moths on Spitlers Edge
