Great Close alongside the Douglas contained a good mixture of waders with 7 species seen overall:-
Shelduck 4, Mallard 3, Teal 2, Buzzard, Kestrel 3 (including 2 mobbing a crow), Oystercatcher 20, Lapwing 12, Golden Plover 30, Ruff 2, Redshank 7, (Curlew and Snipe seen by Neville), Woodpigeon, Stock Dove 2, Skylark (several singing), Meadow Pipit 3, Jay, Magpie, Jackdaw, Crow, Starling 200+, Chaffinch, Goldfinch, Yellowhammer, Reed Bunting.
Ruff and Redshank take me to 88
Waderfest on the moss!

A quick visit this morning produced mini wader fest (no Golden Plover, Snipe or Curlew for me)
* Ruff 1 pair
* Redshank 4
Oystercatcher 10-15
Lapwing 10-15
Kestrel 1 pair
* Corn Bunting 15 near pumping station
Kingfisher 1 flying upstream along Douglas
Teal 2
Stock Dove 3
Also on the reservoirs this afternoon
*Greylag Goose 4 (2 on Upper and 2 on Lower Rivington
Goosander 2 pairs on Lower
Grey Wagtail on causeway between Upper and
Anglezarke
Common Gull 40
Cormorant 3 Upper
*4 new ones take me to 88 species.
