First new years walk

A good walk with the dog around Croston village this morning - 37 birds.

Blue Tit, Great Tit, Coal Tit, LT Tit, Greenfinch, Chaffinch, Goldfinch, Blackbird, Robin, Woodpigeon, Collared Dove, Jackdaw, Rook, C Crow, Nuthatch, Pheasant, Magpie, BH Gull, Herring Gull, Wren, Reed Bunting, House Sparrow, Canada Goose, Starling, Coot, Heron, Moorhen, Wigeon, Gadwall, Tufted Duck, Mallard, GC Grebe, Kestrel, Herring Gull, Mute Swan, Redwing.

And best of all the dog flushed a Woodcock in the Croft Field.

Then a late afternoon walk on the moss and finney - Little Grebe on the main drain, Corn Bunting, Skylark, Buzzard, 2 skeins of 300 and 50 PF Geese.

A total of 42 birds to start the year.
