cotton grasses

As with Birds and Butterflies, we want species as the Topic; add date and site (including grid ref if possible) in the message section. If you saw one earlier - use the reply function. I guess we are looking for actual open blooms rather than simply the plants.

cotton grasses

Post by lydia rose »

Common Cotton-grass E.angustifolium (multi flower-spiked) noticed today flowering in one of the moorland pools above white coppice/brinscall moor.
The abundant single flower- spiked Hare's tail cotton grass E.vaginatum is the species that turns parts of our moors white at this
time of year.
