Neil and I carried out a Willow Tit survey 0900 to 1145hrs starting at White Coppice, walking towards Brinscall, on reaching Heatherlea Woods we walked to Old Withnells Farm and back along the ridge towards WC overlooking the Goit. We didn't see/hear any Willow Tits (despite a lot of effort!).

There were numerous Coal Tits in the area, and they, along with Great Tits, seemed to respond most and investigate the source of the loud calls made by the calling device. Also observed were Blue and LT Tits, 2 Treecreepers, a Siskin, Magpies, Carrion Crows, Raven, Jackdaws, 2 Goldcrests, numerous Nuthatches, a Song Thrush with an odd song, and approx. 4 Jays being very vocal. Blackbird, Robin and several Dunnock around OW Farm, and a Buzzard heard near WC. Several Meadow Pipits seen near OW Farm.

I heard a Mistle Thrush singing at OW Farm on the walk back to Brinscall.

of note: 6 Goosander on Brinscall Lodge at 1210hrs, and a GS Woodpecker drumming in the woods at 0830hrs
