Got a tip off several weeks ago about an area were long eared owls roosted years ago decided to check the area this morning , found the exact spot and by mistake flushed a single owl just above my head i only got a view of the owl from behind as it flew away through thick cover my gut feeling was that it was a tawny going off the reddish brown plumage but the habitat was not really tawny owl habitat , do not want to disclose the area for obvious reasons .

I had a report of one just to the east of our area during the summer.
