E shaped ponds / bretherton eyes .

Post by gary lilley »

Went in hope of jack snipe but had no luck arrived at the e shaped ponds were there was plenty of thrushes feeding on the haws (at least one mistle which looked very pale ) a sparrowhawk soon disturbed the peace , on the water were 2 mute swan , 2 tufted , several mallard and coot had a walk through the wet reedy area behind the ponds were i flushed a water rail :D and only one snipe , 1 buzzard , 1 kestrel , several pheasant , surprisingly 2 hare and a fox .
Bretherton eyes , checked the large rough field which was holding lots of water flushed 10+ snipe , small numbers of meadow pipit and pied wagtail on nearby field , 6 yellowhammer , 2 whooper swan flew over , 3 buzzard , 1 kestrel , plenty of thrushes here as well , the highlight though was 2 hunting peregrine which at one point looked like they were waiting for me to flush birds out for them ( one took a dive at a snipe that i had flushed ) a great moment :D .
