I saw what appeared to be an unusually coloured thrush at Bretherton Clay hole this dinnertime. It was with a mixed flock of fieldfare and redwing feeding on haws at the back of the ponds.
The birds size and shape was consistent with that of a fieldfare but the colour was a fairly uniform very light sandy brown. The rump was noticeably lighter and straw-coloured, from what i saw the breast looked a bit lighter to.
Haven't seen anything like it before and adding together all the factors i am guessing it is a colour variant of a Fieldfare, albino perhaps?
I didn't have my binoculars with me as i was just giving the dogs a quick run at at dinner time but i got within 30m or so.
This bird stands out a mile from its companions so keep a look out.
Albino Fieldfare?

Neil, Yes it is the E-shaped pond but known as the clay hole hereabouts.
