Belmont Reservoir - looked very bleak at first, no birds in the little wood near the yacht club and only 4 Mallard in the central section. However all the action was to the north of the island were a good number of Teal were on the water or on the far bank (50+) and a good number of Mallard were also on the water(40+).
There were also a pair of Stonechat and 1 LBJ, which could have been a Meadow Pipit. 6 Lapwing flew over, there was a Heron on the inlet to the small reservoir (which was frozen over) and Pheasant were calling from the surrounding fields, also 1 Blackbird..
Lead Mine Valley - Also very quiet with not 1 bird seen on Yarrow Reservoir. 1 Mistle Thrush over. In the valley also very quiet with 2 Coal Tit, 2 Blue Tit and a flock of 8-10 Bullfinch. Dunnock & Wren heard.
Belmont Reservoir & Lead Mine Valley 11:45 to 13:30
