Post by Neil Southworth »

As I approached the southern lake the water appeared to be empty, but happily it became apparent that the wildfowl were just dispersed around the lake in clusters, and that similar numbers as usual were present:-
Canada Goose 5, Shelduck 2, Mallard 26, Gadwall 14, Tufted Duck 16, GC Grebe 1, Little Grebe 4, Coot 110, Moorhen 7, Cormorant 1, BH Gull c30.
Other birds around the lakes and at the sewage works included:-
Sparrowhawk, Pheasant, Woodpigeon, Stock Dove c20 over Bretherton Eyes, Herring Gull 12 over, Skylark, Grey Wagtail, Pied Wagtail 20+, Fieldfare (several over), Song Thrush, Blackbird, LT Tit (small flock), Starling 100+, Jay 2, Magpie, Goldfinch, Linnet
