Waxcaps at last

Post by Joyce Riley »

Thankfully there were lots of waxcaps on the cricket field at White Coppice today for the final survey of these species on this site. Tony Bond from North West Fungus Group and I were joined by Phil Kirk who hopefully will add a link to some of his photos later. We found lots of Golden, Heath, Meadow, Scarlet and Slimy Waxcaps, a few Parrot, just one Snowy and best of all a single Pink Waxcap, making 8 Waxcap species in total today. There were also lots of other grassland fungi including Orange and Collared Mosscaps, Yellow Club, Earthy Powdercap, Star Pinkgill and a blue/black Pinkgill, probably Blue Edge Pinkgill but awaiting confirmation. There were also lots of LBJs, including Conecaps.

A few pictures of the White Coppice fungi are on the Society's Flickr page - see https://www.flickr.com/groups/2427599@N21/
