Great white egret .
One over georges lane rivington today info manchester birding (not sure if it went over the lancashire side) .

Did not see it myself but a couple we see most mornings said there was a white heron on the Top Lodge - this would be about 9am -9.20am, no sign of it when we went to look.

I think the GWE appeared from the Chorley side Gary. Therefore, the white heron at Birkacre is intriguing! I did a tour of the reservoirs tonight in the hope it might have dropped in, but no sign. For the record, birds seen:-
Anglezarke:- Teal 6, Cormorant 9, Moorhen 11, dozens of BH Gulls and a single GBB Gull
Lower Rivington:- just Mallard and BH Gulls on the water, but a skein of c50 PF Geese over flying east (5.00 pm)
Upper Rivington:- just Mallard
Anglezarke:- Teal 6, Cormorant 9, Moorhen 11, dozens of BH Gulls and a single GBB Gull
