Croston twin lake Whooper Swan,s !

Post by gary lilley »

Just had a flying visit in horrendous weather conditions but it was worth while when i was greeted with the sight of 10 Whooper swans on the first lake ( first time ive seen whoopers on the lakes ) the swans were at the top end sheltering from the strong winds and rain , the wildfowl were split into two groups ( either end of the first lake ) lots of coot , 10+ gadwall , 9 mute swan ( 7 juv ) were near to the whoopers , 2 gc grebe , 1 little grebe , black headed gulls were dropping in all the time ,had a scan through them but could not find anything unusual , in the the end i had to leave as the weather got even worse all the swans were left undisturbed , did not check all the first lake and none of the second lake so there may some decent birds which i did not spot ( well worth checking tomorrow ).
