Old Rachel's, Hempshaws, Sam Pasture, Standing Stones Hill

Post by MarkF »

Cuckoo, wheatear (2+), stonechat (3+), Lapwings (loads!), skylark, pheasant, curlew, heron, meadow pipit, bh gulls, chaffinch, pied wagtail (quite a few of them). Plus an annoying good sighting of a brown bird with a white chest and a trill call (three notes in succession) that probably was nothing special but it wound me up that I couldn't ID it! :P

Great to be back on't moors this evening!!!

Might suggest Mark that you were fortunate and that your brown bird with white chest was a Ring Ouzel - good record!

I wish it was, Brian, but I've just had a look at the ID and I don't think it was... probably just a mippit in disguise :o I'm happy enough with the wheatear which always seem to pop up on the old farm ruins and they let you get close enough to not need bins! :D
