grasshopper warbler sedge warbler and reed bunting all seeking a new place to breed. after the monuMENTAL cock up that is the total blitzing of lower burgh meadow. who's crack pot idea was it to mow the whole of the meadow.why ask for advice on which areas to LEAVE UNCUT!! for the breeding birds.be shown the area then just cut it all anyway. the only reed canary grass/ phragmites left is in very thin strips were there is willow scrub. i think the only reason thats not been cut is so the flail mower didnt get damaged. during this mowing operation 4 reed buntings nests have been totally destroyed two of which contained eggs and were due to hatch on friday17th. and the other two should have had eggs by now. all now very sadly DESTROYED. on a less important but personal note 2014 breeding season would have been year 4 of a 5year intensive study of nest recording breeding bird monitoring and ringing survey now sadly completely wiped out. no more year on year comparisons as the vegetation is totally different . :x :x :x WELL DONE ON THAT ONE.

I agree and feel just as passionate about it .it used to be my favourite place to go. But now when i go on the meadow i could cry as it makes me feel sick.
