Rookeries
Not sure if there is a new Rookery in Wheelton or is it referred to as 'Lower Wheelton' in Annual Report. Anyway, behind the old Police Station on Blackburn Road (going down the hill) there is a small rookery of 8 nests - don't recall seeing them there previously - but might be me!! Also St Chad's has 8 nests whilst the one at Red Cat (Tan House Lane) seems to be down to a single nest.

Re: Rookeries
Brian, the rookery behind the police station has been there for years, but is down from about 15 nests. St Chad's as you say is increasing, so maybe they're are moving over from the police station. The Red Cat was down to one nest last year, so it doesn't look to have caught on. The Prospect House Rookery at Higher Wheelton is also splitting with nests moving up the old road towards the village.
The same thing is happening in Croston. The main one at the bowling green is becoming smaller, but there are now two more small ones in Grape Lane and Westhead Road.
We're doing the census this weekend, so it will be interesting to see how it compares with last year.
