Croston/mawdesley moss Green Sandpiper .

2 hours on the mosslands this morning with a good selection of birds about the highlight being a single green sandpiper flushed off one of the drainage ditches on the mawdesley side other birds :- 6 goosander 10 mallard on the douglas , small flocks of starling passed through , around 200 pinkfoot were in the area 3 canada geese , could hear whoopers in the distance , 1 juv mute swan on the douglas , 2 cormorant , large numbers of finches on the double hedegrow , around 100 skylark took up off one field , plenty of yellowhammer and reed buntings , 10 tree sparrow and gs pecker at the feeding station , 2 raven passed through , 2 kestrel , 20 stock dove , 1 heron , mixed flock of jackdaw/rooks around 200 birds , tit flock in wooded area with 2 goldcrest , several blackbirds and song thrush , 1 snipe , checked a set aside field on the mawdesley side which also held plenty of tree sparrows , chaffinch , goldfinch , linnet , reed bunting and yellowhammer , 20 mallard were on a nearby pond , 2 seperate flocks of lapwing around 20 birds in each flock , another great morning on the mosses :D .
