Bonny Boy Astley Park 28/02/13

Post by Ivan Lynas »

For the second day running I bobbed down to Astley Park to check if my friends, the two little grebes had returned to the pond but they were nowhere to be seen. However I was compensated by this very handsome drake mandarin shuffling around the pond in all of his colourful splendour. Pics below show him at 3pm today.

He is a stunner Ivan, I remember seeing them at Martin Mere as a boy I think it is maybe why I ended up showing an interest in birds!!

Thanks All, my brother informed me of the mandarin's presence on Thursday morning and I couldn't resist checking him out in the afternoon.

Stunning bird. They never look real to me, as though they are almost plastic.
