Birds seen/heard: Raven giving one of three Kestrel a hard time, Great views of a Little Owl out on a rock next to the path in full view and seemingly not a bit disturbed by the numbers of people passing, Reed Bunting - 1 f with a beakful of green caterpillars and 1 m in song, 2 juvenile Stonechat and possibly 2 others, 1 adult and 1 juvenile Grey Wagtail, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Spotted Flycatcher near the nursery (at last), Jay, Lesser Whitethroat, LBB Gull, Carrion Crow, Blackbird, Song Thrush, Dunnock, Wren. No sign of Whinchat.

I had a morning visit 7:30 till 9:00. Saw the male whinchat while viewing the little owl on same rock.

Sightings similar to Len's except I did manage to see the Whinchat (well spotted Paul). Not much bird song now. Just snatches from Blackbird, Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler and Reed Bunting. Full list:-
Pheasant, Buzzard, Kestrel 3 or 4, Oystercatcher, Woodpigeon, Little Owl, Grey Wagtail 3 or 4, Swallow, House Martin, Mistle Thrush 2, Song Thrush (freshly dead), Blackbird, Stonechat 2, Whinchat, Robin, Wren, Dunnock, Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Whitethroat, Willow Warbler,, Blue, Great and LT Tit, Treecreeper, Jay, Crow, Raven (3 in mid-air skirmish - perhaps young birds), Goldfinch, Greenfinch, Lesser Redpoll (very vocal), Siskin, Bullfinch and Reed Bunting (at least two singing males and female carrying food).
Insects:- Red Admiral, Gatekeeper, Meadow Brown and Speckled Wood, Brown hawker, Grasshopper sp (sev)
Mammals:- Grey Squirrel
Also record of Cuckoo near Wheelton Plantation last Sunday, 29th June (Carol T)

Further trip to White Coppice 16:30 to 18:30 to try for the Whinchat. No sign unfortunately, but did see 4 Kestrel, a family of 4 Wren, the juvenile Stonechat were more distant, 5 Grey Wagtail, 1 adult male and 2 juvenile Common Redstart.

Regards the redstart, I saw the female alongside the male and juveniles. Also managed to see the little owl and whinchat (thanks for waiting Paul).
The quarry pond on Healey Nab had a single southern hawker and quite a few blue damsel flies.

Evening visit 19:15 to 20:45.
2 Hobby chasing Swift and House martin.
Little Owl on wall along bottom path.
Kestrel juvs , occasionally being pestered by the Hobbys.
No sign of male Whinchat.
