mawdesley moss/croston reedbed.

Post by gary lilley »

Mawdesley moss , barn owl hunting the rough field , 2 whooper flew over(vocal) several small flocks of pinkfoot , kestrel , buzzard , highlight was a male merlin the bird was involved in behaviour i had not seen before it was hunting going flat out low over the ground before flying vertically and stooping back towards the ground it repeated this behavior several times before going out of view.
croston reed bed , had a scan through the reeds hoping for a bittern but no luck , there was lots of gulls on a nearby flooded field were i managed to find a single common gull feeding with black headed there was also a large imm gull ( not sure what species)
Year list up to 30 species
