Croston/mawdesley moss .

1 cormorant.
20 canada geese.
7 pinkfoot .
Single goose flying high on its own ( possible greylag).
1 heron .
10 teal.
1 fem tufted duck , on the douglas with the teal.
20 snipe , flushed from one wet field.
3 kestrel.
2 buzzard.
1 fem merlin, appeared just after i had flushed the snipe the bird was flat out into the wind following 4 snipe .
Thousands of woodpigeon .
2 male bullfinch .
20 chaffinch, no sign of any bramblings.
blue, great, lt tits.
2 gs pecker.
10 goldfinch.
5 reed bunting.
10 pheasant.
6 red legged partridge.
1 barn owl , found roosting in the willow scrub.
20 carrion crow.
5 magpie.
1 song thrush .
5 fieldfare.
20 starling.
1 hare.

Gary, I was also on Croston Moss this morning. Birds seen different to those you saw were as follows:

Blackbird, Yellowhammer, Stonechat, Goldcrest, Robin, House Sparrow, Tree Sparrow, Sparrowhawk, Skylark, Pied Wagtail, Jackdaw, Jay, Pheasant.

There was also a flock of approx 300 finches on the north side of Cottage Lane (seen from Finney Lane) from the white panels on their wings they looked like Linnet, but there could have been other finches with them.
