10 coot .
4 tufted duck.
2 mallard .
10 snipe , flushed from the boggy ground behind the ponds .
1 woodcock , flushed from the hedgerow behind the ponds.
At least one water rail heard squealing from the boggy area behind the ponds.
1 tawny owl heard calling.
Around 100 thrushes ( redwing , fieldfare) feeding on the abundance of hawthorn berries ,
1 kestrel.
1 bullfinch near the railway.
The water rail brings my chorley year list up to 132 species .
