A female Merlin was the highlight, other birds seen include:
Linnet, Reed Bunting, Goldfinch, Bullfinch, Yellowhammer, Skylark, Robin, Wren, Dunnock, Starling, Redwing, Fieldfare, Blackbird, Grey Partridge (approx 20), Pheasant, Carrion Crow, Jackdaw, Magpie, Black Headed Gull, Kestrel (m), Tree Sparrow, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Long Tailed Tit, Chaffinch, Pied Wagtail, Collared Dove, large flock of corvids and an even larger (300-500) flock of Woodpigeon.
Also a very bold family of Brown Rats at the feeding station at High Lane level crossing.

Well done with the merlin Len, its a real treat to see one of these dashing raptors on the forum just like it was with Chris' hobby in the summer. However, merlin numbers have never fully recovered since the outlawing of organochlorine pesticides, unlike their larger cousin the peregrine whose numbers have reached record levels.
