I took this picture of dad at 3pm today, notably his chops are fluffed up with some new light coloured down and soon his overall coat will be a dull brown affair until next spring. Mum was fishing with the one remaining youngster at the far end of the pond.

Cheers Len, I've been monitoring this family closely over the past 6 weeks and in such time I've learned quite alot about little grebes. These delightful little water birds have so much character about them and the adults are quite fearless for their size.I was on the park today and observed the adult male frequently chasing the remaining youngster away and at times trying to nip its rear. Mum's still feeding the youngster, but its only a matter of time before it moves on and just before I departed at 3pm I observed them both flying from one end of the lake to the other.
