Spent the last hour of daylight on Croston Finney in a desperate attempt to score an equaliser (Whooper Swan or Brambling would have done, believe it or not). All I got was a soaking for my troubles. There were several each of Chaffinch, Greenfinch, Goldfinch, Linnet, Reed and Corn Bunting and Yellowhammer in the regular roost, but I couldn't turn any into a Brambling. A Grey Heron flapping along the Douglas in the gathering gloom looked decidely Purple, but nah that is desperation!
The only other birds seen were half a dozen Fieldfare on telephone wires, and a flock of Starling going to roost.
