Don,t forget your local patch!

Post by gary lilley »

Over the last few weeks ive spent most of my time over on Mawdesley/Croston moss and most recently on winter hill chasing the snow bunting ( which ive missed on several occasions) so today i had a visit to my local patch which is the syd brook which flows through Eccleston and had a look around the surrounding fields , birds spotted:- star bird was a female blackcap which was hanging around with some blue and great tits , i nearly overlooked the bird for a dunnock/robin ( just goes to show its always worth a second look) , flock of lt tits , 3 tree creeper , heard goldcrest , 30+ goldfinch , several chaffinch and greenfinch , 1 grey wagtail , 1 kestrel , 1 woodcock , 8 mallard , 150 pinkfoot flew over heading west , plenty of blackbirds and redwings and 2 mistle thrush not bad for just over 1 hour on your doorstep .
