Post by gary lilley »

Just had 3 hours on the moss, parked up on rufford train station car park ( handy place to park) i first checked out the marshy area behind the station which is just on the mawdesley/rufford boundry to my surprize there was not a single snipe in the area but i did flush a fox and 6 mute swans were on a flooded field(3 adult 3 juv) later on in the day the flooded area also held nearly 100 whooper swan :D .
mawdesley moss, 1 poss 2 peregrine , at least 2 buzzard , 6 kestrel ( record count), 1000+ pinkfoot ,500+ corvids, 2 mallard , 2 moorhen, 12 snipe , 1 woodcock :D , several reed bunting and yellowhammer , 10+ tree sparrow , 15 grey partridge , 4 heron , 10 pheasant , 8 bullfinch , several skylark and the odd meadow pipit.

Not sure were the boundry finishes but looking from the bridge over the douglas up river the whoopers were on the right hand side near the river banking.
