One Redwing at lunchtime flew over from N to S; shortly after 5 flew over from SW to NE. Approx 12 flew over near dusk from W to E.
2 Swallows flew over from N to S.
During the morning there were several small flocks of finches flying over including Chaffinch and Goldfinch.
Three Skylark over the former quarry this morning.
One Red Admiral in the garden this morning.
At YVP this morning (10:00 ish), there was a single Red Admiral.
Birds seen include, Moorhen, Coot, Mallard, Black Headed Gull, 5 Mute Swan, Nuthach, Great Tit, Blue Tit, Coal Tit, Blackbird, Hedge Sparrow, Robin, Chaffinch, Pied Wagtail. Heard Jay.
No sign of Water Rail or Snipe.
Fungus (see below) on trunk of tree near bottom of steps mid way along south side of Big Lodge.

We passed by the lodges at 8am and 9.45am, the only interesting thing we saw (apart from some straggley St John's Wort) was the Buzzard in Spring Wood and s/he saw us.
Had a look at the weir & ladder it was roaring almost deafening, saw one tiny fish leaping.
On the 14 Oct on the top lodge we saw one snipe

Looks like a young bird to me ( great photo).
