White Coppice 28.9.11

Post by Neil Southworth »

Nothing's ever perfect is it? Glorious, warm and sunny morning, but with a stiff breeze which seemed to keep the birds down.
That said, there were 4 or 5 Stonechat flitting about in the bracken again, which is always nice to see. Vismig was light with just a trickle of Swallows, Meadow Pipits, Skylarks, Siskin and Redpoll moving south along the Goit. Also seen were 4 Pied Wagtail on the cricket field, GS Pecker, Treecreeper, flock of LT Tits and a Bullfinch. A flock of 50 or so Starling was at Heapey.
The days of the Mallard on the ponds across the Goit would appear to be numbered, as several shooting butts have been erected in the fields by the side of them.
