Croston/mawdesley moss 6.00pm till dusk.
1 yellowhammer , 3 reed bunting , 10+ meadow pipit, 10+ skylark , 30+ grey partridge (3 coveys) , 10+ snipe ,2 kestrel , 2 peregrine ( poss 1 adult , 1juv) 10 mallard , and a large adult mink on one of the drainage ditches , overall an entertaining 90 mins birding , the grey partridge sightings were very promising ( an accurate count) and the peregrine was a big surprize i only spotted them as the light faded they seemed to come from nowhere , they appeared a split second after i flushed 20 partridge and the 10 snipe , one of the birds appeared to be begging and was making plenty of noise ( the peregrine could have been on the same field as the partridge and snipe) the mink sighting although entertaining was a worrying sight .
