A ladder has been placed on the chimney right to the top,and at approx 7.15 this evening, a peregrine was flying round then coming in to land, but then flying away again, obviously nervous about the ladder.
It made 3 or 4 attempts, then we didn't see it again.

Peregrine settled on chimney last night and again this morning.

Re the ladder on the chimney, it has been suggested that now might be a good time to install a nesting tray up there. Has anybody got any views on the subject?

Personally, I think the peregrines did just fine on the church.
If the young birds were to fall from the top of the chimney, it would be more of a problem to return them to the nest there, if they survived the fall.

Hi Neil, I'm in total agreement with Tony on this one and as long as the resident falcons come to no harm and the ravens nest stays intact they'll definately be a breeding attempt at the church next year.Pic below shows a sight that I never thought I'd experience in my life time in Chorley town centre.
