A family of Stonechat comprising male, female and juvenile was flitting about in the bracken. Who says bracken serves no useful purpose? Tell it to the birds! Other birds included a marauding Sparrowhawk, Green and GS Pecker, Grey Wagtail, Lesser Redpoll, Linnet, Bullfinch, a small flock of Siskin flying up and down, several Swallow twittering over and c75 Mallard at the breeding pond. A large mixed tit flock with Blue, Great, Coal and LT Tit plus Nuthatch, Chiffchaff and Willow Warbler was making its way along the Goit.
Insects:- Small White 2-10, Speckled Wood 3, Gatekeeper, Small Copper, Peacock 2, plus several Red Admiral flying strongly south as they seem to do at this time of year.
Dragonflies:- Brown Hawker 3
Curiosity:- not a single Woodpigeon seen.
