As Neil mentioned in the previous post, the fire has had a devestating effect on the wildlife, particularly above Anglezarke and the plantations. with significant disruption to the farming community during the lambing season. Let's hope the ground nesters are able to 'have another go' soon.
News from the Nab (after unbelievabley spending some time asking visitors to extinguish camp fires/BBQs): still lots of Willow Warblers, Redpoll, Great and Blue Tits, Blackbird, Robin, Chaffinch, Skylark, Crow, Dunnock, Song Thrush, Sparrow Hawk and to my delight, 2 Cuckoos calling on the less windy western side of the Nab.
B/flies: Orange Tip, Small and Large White, Speckled Wood, Peacock
1 (f) Roe Deer

I was at white coppice last night down by the river at about 7.30 and was lucky enough to hear a cuckoo and see it fly overhead.
The first one I have heard for years and the first one I have ever seen
