Grasshopper Warbler 21st Apr 09

Post by MarkF » Tue Apr 21, 2009 9:24 pm

Coincidentally I found the first last year. Then they were near Blue Waters on Healey Nab. This year, I got lucky again - one day earlier, and 5+ on Anglezarke Moor around Old Rachel's.

Sorry Mark!

First this year was on Sunday at Black Coppice. See Summer Visitors First Dates above.

Good record though - five birds! were they all reeling?

Doh! Never mind - I did a quick check but was looking in the wrong area of this forum. They were all reeling, having a right good sing off :) 3 in the wooded sheep wash area N of Moses Cockers, and 2 near the disused quarry at the base of Noon Hill, a couple more heard between the two spots but I dismissed them because they may have been the same bird(s).
