Last year the woodland around the derelict Croston Hall and the Chapel of the Holy Cross along Grape Lane was opened up by clearance of a lot of dense undergrowth. What a difference the year has made as there are now fabulous swathes of wild garlic which are now all in flower with clumps of blue bells mixed in for good measure. I'm sure any half competent botanist will see much more than me. Well worth a visit and there are lots of woodland birds in song too. Looks ideal for flycatchers to me. The area is easily viewed along the lane especially the fenced areas. To see over the wall, well I can manage it at 5' 10" but any less than that I suggest you bring a box to stand on!
