December Meeting

Post by phil kirk »

On 13th December we have our last meeting of 2012.
This is to be a Members' Evening with a few short presentations by members, a quiz, and hopefully a photo competition.

Any members wishing to enter the competition - which will be entirely anonymous so no need to be shy - please send me up to 3 pictures. Subject matter can be natural history or local landscapes.

Members' Evening

Post by phil kirk »

Thanks to all those who contributed to a successful Members' Evening on Thursday.

John Cobham, Mick Brookes and Nigel Fairclough each provided wonderful audio visual treats for us. Chris Rae gave an illustrated talk about the local Peregrine population. Tony Dunn gave a short illustrated talk about some of the wildlife he sees on his regular visits to Speyside. All of these presentations included photographs of the highest quality. Thanks to them all.

Thanks to David Allen and to Carol Thistlethwaite who entertained and amused us with poetry readings.

Thanks to David Beattie who gave a short talk about the Watch Group activities in Cuerden Valley Park, and he also tormented us with his fiendish quiz questions.

The quiz was won by Neil Southworth and the Photo competition by Tony Dunn which a stunning photograph of a Jay eating an acorn. Well done to both.

Finally, thanks to Joan Smith who donated lots of Colin's prints as prizes to the winners and as gifts to the rest of us who were not so successful.

I believe that the evening was enjoyed by all who were there.
