Sunday sightings

Post by lindsay »

Today was extremely busy with visitors so I didn't get much chance to look for wildlife! Sightings did include hare and Roe deer ( and I was told that an otter had been spotted crossing from the Ribble onto the reserve at lunchtime!) Bees and butterflies spotted (Peacock and Tortoiseshell). Many waterbirds and waders around including GC Grebe, Tufties, Wigeon and Teal. Oystercatcher and Redshank. Lots of Blackheaded Gulls with Med. Gulls reported to be there as well. Smaller birds included Long Tailed tit, Goldfinch and Reed Bunting. There is still one Bittern on Meadow Lake.

Not that i am aware of Neil. None of the regular birders have reported seeing any but given today's weatherand the forecast i don't think it will be long.
