Above my Euxton Garden

Post by Mervyn Thornhill »

A raven has just chased a falcon type bird of prey over my garden and away to the south. I don't suppose I can have that for the garden bird survey.

We have lots of food and water out in the garden and plenty of birds are in for it (great tits, blue tits, coal tit, longtailed tits, song thrush, robins, blackbirds, nuthatches, g s woodpecker, starling, greenfinches, chaffinches, dunnocks and two grey squirrels) but nothing unusual so far.

I couldn't have the raven last week but I can have today's buzzard for the survey.

We often see the buzzards around (although I don't recall seeing much of them since this cold weather started) but they rarely come into the garden. However one has just sat in one of the oak trees for about five minutes before moving on.
