River Yarrow Eccleston.

Post by John Edwards »

Not many birds around in the icy weather this morning, a first for me this winter was a Woodcock, a small flock of 15+ Meadow Pipits stayed feeding only feet away while I walked past, it was as if they couldn't be bothered moving in the cold.
Also 1 Heron, 3 Snipe, 2 Teal, 6 Mallard, 1 Kestrel and 13 Fieldfare.
5 or 6 Curlew were on a distant field calling every now and then, I presume these will be the same birds that have been in the area all week, it beats me how they can find any food on the frozen fields!
