Red-breasted Goose, Eccleston

Post by Neil Southworth »

Birdguides is reporting a Red-breasted Goose at Eccleston. Gary, John do you know anything about it? Presumably it's the escaped bird which associates with feral Barnacles at Martin Mere.

RBA is reporting this bird (the "wild" 1st W) as being NW of St Helens (and therefore not the Chorley Eccleston) in a field off the East Lancs Rd at Windle Farm SJ 486 969. Also, it is with Pink-feet, and not the Knowsley Barnacle flock...

Thanks Ian.

I sort of suspected that the St Helens Eccleston would be more likely.

When i saw this report on Birdguides last night I did wonder if it was correct or not as I was walking the Eccleston area at the time it was supposed to have been sighted, then I remembered the St. Helens Eccleston! Incidentally I have see both the RBGeese the old one with the Barnacles and the first year bird with Pinkfeet at Martin Mere over the last couple of weeks.
I went to see the Iceland Gull and the Waxies in Preston this morning
