Waxwings Rivington 19.11.10

Post by Neil Southworth »

A flock of 25 Waxwings was in the arboretum near Great House Barn this morning. They were feeding on a rowan which was being defended by a couple of Mistle Thrushes.

We seem to to have an influx of mistles thrushes and they are always around WWs do they migrate with them for food, or are they residents, urm protecting or not wanting to sharing berries,

Hi Dave,

I can't say I've noticed an influx of Mistle Thrushes - there don't seem to be that many around, but those that are are probably resident birds.

Mistle Thrushes are famous for defending berry bushes, in their territory.
