record count of snipe!

Post by gary lilley »

eccleston tincklers lane fields, went for awalk with snipe in mind and was not disapointed i entered a large open field which had plenty of manure spread on it , i flushed between 20 and 30 birds , at one point i struggled to count the birds as they were taking up that quickly sadly there were no jack snipe present although i didnt cover every blade of grass , other birds present, 1 buzzard 4 swallow 100+ woodpigeon, 4 teal, 2 reed bunting 2 meadow pipit by the way my previous record for snipe in the village was 16 birds.
eccleston syd brook i had two views of a kingfisher which had to be the same bird i,m pretty sure it was a young bird as it was calling franticley and at one point it was only 6 feet away trying to hide under the bank.
