The pond at Lower Kem Mill seemed to be fast disappearing on Saturday 26th September when my grandson Liam and I went for a bike ride. We rescued a few minnows and stone loach (?) from a small isolated pool with our waterbottle.
On Sunday we returned with containers to effect a bigger rescue but found the pond filling up again , thank goodness, from a culvert. Liam was disappointed at first but was soon happy again knocking conkers off the nearby Horse Chestnut trees. I just hpoe that conker fighting has not been banned at school.
