Either Trametes versicolor or Heterobasidiodon annosum

Heterobasidion annosum is the correct spelling - fungi are always tricky!

Sorry for the delay in responding but I couldn't see the picture - thanks Chris for emailing it to me. Jack could be correct with his ID – I think it is most likely to be Trametes versicolor with English name formerly Many-zoned Polypore and now with the imaginative name of Turkey-tail! It looks to be still at the young stage but if it’s the species I think, the zoning will become more obvious as it ages.
