Plock Wood Balsam Removal 2016

Hi All,
Lower Burgh Meadow Conservation Group Members have been into the clearing in Plock Wood and Pulled the dead Fronds from the Ferns, so we can get at the Himalayan Balsam.
The Bramble cleared early last Year, has started to grow back well and the group will endeavour to pull any Balsam Stragglers out this year.
Several work days this coming year have been allocated to Pulling Balsam, The group has a day Called "our Public Balsam Bash Day " and this year it is on Sunday June 5th, you are all invited.
To see the native flora return and the amount of other native wildlife that brings back to an area is just wonderful.
The group recently made some Live hedges on the Meadow, using the bowland Ecology Management plan, along with talks with Neil Southworth last year, as to how to deal with the meadow in this area.

My next update will be around early May, or why don't you put the date in your diary now for the Balsam Bash Day Sunday 5th June.
Have a good year.
Best wishes Eddie
