There was shooting taking place on Croston Moss, which must have pushed the birds across the railway onto Croston Finney. In any case, I find late afternoon in winter a good time to visit, because birds are gathering in pre-roost flocks, and on a fine day there's always a good chance of Barn Owl hunting along the ditches. :D
